Youth and Chaperone Policy

Youth and Chaperone Policy

Augusta Heritage Center is always interested in the idea of “passing it on” to our youth. However, a few basic rules apply for reasons of safety and for the benefit of all who attend Augusta workshops:

  • All participants and visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone who will directly supervise them outside of their workshops.
  • With the exception of attending workshops, children under 18 must be within sight of their adult chaperone at all times.
  • Chaperones not registered as participants may pay a non-refundable/non-transferable $150 chaperone fee (which includes access to all group sessions and evening events). The chaperone fee does not include workshop tuition, and chaperones are not permitted to accompany children to workshops.
  • If a minor participant is staying on campus, the chaperone must also stay on campus in the same dorm and pay housing and meal fees.
  • Enrolled participants may not bring their infants or children to workshops.
  • Youth under 13 years old may enroll in adult workshops only if pre-approved by the Augusta Heritage Center and the Instructor; an adult level of participation is expected.
  • The minimum age for Folk Arts for Kids is 6 (participants must have completed Kindergarten).
