Patrick Ourceau was born in France, where he discovered and started to play Irish music. In 1989 he emigrated to NYC and since 2005 has been living in Toronto. Patrick Ourceau has played with such legendary Irish musicians as Andy McGann, Paddy Reynolds and Jack Coen. Patrick regularly visits County Clare to perform with Paddy Canny and Peadar O’Loughlin. He has been a member Chulrua since 2003, along with accordion player Paddy O’Brien and guitarist and singer Pat Egan. They record on Shanachie Records. When not touring with the band, Patrick performs with guitarist Eamon O’Leary. Patrick has also worked with Gearoid O’hAllmhurain, Andrew McNamara, and with the legendary Tulla Ceili band. Patrick’s beautiful tone, rhythmic lift, deft bow work and crisply executed ornamentation have created great demand for his gifts as a teacher at various festivals and summer schools across North America and Ireland.
Beginning Irish Fiddle
I’m delighted to be back again at Irish week and to be teaching the beginner fiddle class! During the week I’ll be showing you several of my favorite tunes and incorporate ideas on phrasing, ornamentation and address specific technical and musical questions you might have. I will also share during the week various audio and video recordings from my personal archive and hope that you will discover new ideas and find inspiration through them. I will teach the classes by ear but can make sheet music available during the week if necessary. Make sure to bring some form of audio recording device.
I look forward to meeting you all! Feel free to get in touch if you have any additional questions about the classes.
See you this Summer!
